I journal daily and I allocate points for many of my daily tasks. At the end of the day, I add up these points, convert them to dollars at my $0.20 per 10 points rate, and set that money aside for a goal of my choice. This year, my goal is to pay off my $20,000 loan as quickly as possible, so all the money I get from these daily savings go towards paying my loan.
I pay this money from my own pocket, on a daily basis. It’s a small amount, usually around $1, that can easily be saved by mindful shopping and reducing waste. So not only that I save money, but I become more mindful about my spending habits.
Let’s see how these five days unravel.
11 February 2026, Wednesday
Today it’s been a workday, so I balanced motherhood and work as best as I could.
I started my day with a nice cup of coffee, 5 points. Did the dishes and milk bottles, 10 points. I made a flatbread omelet with a side of cherry tomatoes and I took advantage to quickly film it, 10 points. I received my shopping for this week and I created a short for my channel, showing my most recent groceries, and published it on Social Media, 10 points. The day was full of snuggles and happy moments with my son, so I logged quality time with him, 10 points. My son’s nails were pretty big, so I cut them – if you have a toddler, this might be challenging sometimes -, so I rewarded myself 5 points for it. I logged my workday, 5 points. And I managed to squeeze in 15 minutes of fitness. With my 2,000 steps for the day, I logged 4 points for fitness. I also crochet half a donut today to test out some new yarn, but I didn’t allocate points for it.
The total of the day comes to 59 points. With my $0.20 per 10 points conversion rate, I saved $1.18. These money will go towards paying my $20,000 loan.

Curious what I bought this week? Eggs and Lebanese flatbread for omelets. Frozen eggplants for a salad. Vegetables mix, chicken hearts and gizzards for a new recipe I want to try. Milk for pudding or pancakes, I haven’t decide yet. Chocolate eclairs, yummy and on discount. Vitamins for immunity boost. When I received my shopping, I also retuned a bag of bottles for recycling and quickly received the money back in my account – 20 bottles, $2.34 back.

13 February 2026, Friday
Today is a workday, and a pretty full one I might say!
Luckily, my mother helped with coffee in the morning. It’s so nice to wake up to a nice cup of coffee!
I dived right into work, as I knew it will be a long day! I managed to get a head start on my tasks at work. I logged my workday for 5 points.
I switched to some content creating and I managed to create two shorts, one for today and one for tomorrow, 20 points. The short I published today was created from an older video, I’m showing you how I serve sea bream with attiéké And plantain, a very dear dish that I made for my family in January. Important accomplishment, I hit an important milestone, 200 subscribers on YouTube, thank you for following my content and supporting my project!
I made some quick omelet wraps with green onion and I got a chance to also film it, 10 points.
I was so busy with all my tasks that I didn’t even get a chance to cook what I planned. But my parents knew my busy schedule and they brought some beans sauce, some sausages and pickled cucumbers. All I had to do is put the sausages in the oven for 30 minutes and our dinner was done. I only logged 5 points for the minimum effort I put in.
When I got a small break, I took out the trash and recyclables, 5 points.
Even with a busy schedule, I spent some quality time with my son and I even invented a good night story for him, The Restless King Visits China. But this is a story for another time, that I definitely want to share with you! So I logged quality time with my son, 10 points.
Lastly, fitness for the day was low, only 2,000 steps, so I logged 2 points. Total of the day comes to 57 points, so I saved $1.14 towards paying my loan in advance.

14 February 2026, Saturday
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! If you are celebrating or not, I hope you get to spend your day with your loved ones and have some awesome time!
Finally, weekend! And an extended weekend, since we have next Monday off! That gives me a chance to catch up on other projects and house work!
I started my day with a cup of coffee, as usual, 5 points.
Then, a dear neighbor came over bringing some memorial offering meal to honor the dead: traditional coliva (memorial dessert), some wine and lighten candles. I always receive her memorial offerings, as I cherish her a lot! No points for it, just sharing a life happening moment.
I washed my dishes and milk bottles, as I might cook later, 10 points.
I had such a full week, on all aspects, so today I chose to relax and not rush. I had food in the fridge, the house is clean enough, I said to myself, why not? I deserve a break, especially on Valentine’s Day. So I spent the rest of the day mostly chilling, not rushing into anything and getting lots of hugs and play time with my little one, 10 points.
I did chat with my sweet cousin and helped her with a light video for her channel, 10 points. And I published a short I created yesterday, no points for it, as I already gave my points yesterday. The fitness for the day was low, 2,000 steps, 2 points.
